Carry-On Pup: Navigating Gear, Airports, and Global Pup Scenes
Full Class Description
Traveling as a pup can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also feel intimidating the first time you do it. Questions about packing gear, navigating airport security, and stepping into unfamiliar pup scenes are common. Many pups want to explore communities beyond their home city but are not sure where to start.
This workshop shares practical advice and real experiences from traveling through pup communities around the world. Drawing from time spent in scenes across Atlanta, London, Montreal, Sydney, and India, this class focuses on helping pups travel confidently, respectfully, and safely while staying authentic to themselves.
Participants will learn how to navigate the logistical and social aspects of traveling with pup gear, how to approach security and airport interactions calmly, and how to respectfully introduce themselves into new communities.
This class is designed for pups who want to explore the global community while building confidence and awareness along the way.
What This Class Covers
Traveling With Gear
One of the most common concerns pups have when traveling is how to pack and transport their gear. This section covers practical strategies for deciding what to bring, how to pack it safely, and how to prepare for situations where luggage may be searched.
Participants will also learn tips for choosing travel friendly gear and understanding how different items may appear during security inspections.
The goal is to help pups feel prepared rather than anxious when traveling with gear.
Navigating Airports and Security
Airport security can feel intimidating when you are traveling with kink gear or wearing items like collars.
This section shares real world examples of how those situations often unfold and how confidence and communication can make the experience smoother.
For example, while traveling through security in India I was asked about a chain collar I was wearing that had been locked on by my partner as a sign of commitment. I explained that I did not have the key with me and that they were welcome to swab and test it if necessary. After a brief conversation they simply waved me through.
Experiences like that demonstrate an important lesson. Security officers are primarily focused on safety, not personal expression.
Participants will learn how to approach these interactions calmly and respectfully.
Entering New Pup Communities
Walking into a pup event in a new city can feel vulnerable. Every scene has its own culture, norms, and expectations.
This section focuses on how to respectfully introduce yourself into new spaces, how to observe and learn the culture of a scene, and how to build connections over time.
Examples from different communities will illustrate how scenes can vary. Atlanta serves as my home base where I stay visible and active in the community. London has a strong established scene where consistent presence at events like Collared helps build recognition. Montreal demonstrated how some cities already have a strong global pup culture that welcomes newcomers easily.
Understanding these differences helps travelers approach new communities with confidence and respect.
Cultural Awareness and Safety
Not every country views kink the same way. Laws, social norms, and venue expectations can vary significantly.
This section explores how to research local expectations before traveling and how to make decisions that balance authenticity with personal safety.
Topics include discretion, respecting venue policies, and learning from local community members about what is appropriate in their scene.
Traveling well means understanding the environment you are stepping into.
Building Global Community
One of the most rewarding parts of traveling as a pup is the friendships that form along the way.
You begin to see familiar faces across cities and events. A pup you met in Atlanta appears again in London. Someone from Montreal shows up in Sydney. Communities begin to overlap and connections grow stronger.
This final section explores how those relationships help build a global network of pups who support each other across cities and countries.

Why I Teach This Class
For me, pup identity has always been about connection. Over the past few years that connection has extended far beyond my home city.
Atlanta is my home base and the place where I stay active and visible in the local community. Through events, friendships, and teaching opportunities, it is the scene where I continue to grow and give back.
Travel has opened the door to something much bigger. Spending time in London introduced me to a scene with its own traditions and strong community spaces like Collared. Montreal showed how easily pups can connect in cities where the culture is already widely embraced. Trips to Sydney and India reminded me that pup identity can show up in surprising places and that authenticity often sparks conversations rather than conflict.
Along the way I have traveled with gear, worn collars through airport security, and stepped into rooms where nobody knew me yet. Those experiences taught me how much confidence and preparation can change the way those moments unfold.
I teach this class because traveling as a pup should feel exciting, not intimidating. The global pup community is real, welcoming, and constantly growing. With a little preparation and a willingness to show up authentically, pups can discover connections in places they never expected.
This workshop is about sharing what I have learned so others can explore the world with the same confidence.
